Synchronise a mailing list with a user group

Hi Chris

I think a useful future feature would be to automatically synchronise users in a Joomla user group with a mailing list. Perhaps it can already be done but I haven't found it yet!

Unfortunately, this is not possible at the moment. We could theoretically look for Joomla events for adding users to a group but I'm not sure if something like that exists.

Thanks for the reply. It's not urgent so don't spend any time on it. If I get some time I will try and put something together myself. It would be a good opportunity to learn about plugins. I was wondering if I could use the onUserAfterSave event.

Yes, you can use that event and also expand on the existing NS Pro User plugin, so that you avoid all the boilerplate code required to get the plugin installed in the first place.

I have attached my first attempt at a plugin to synchronise an NS Pro mailing list with a Joomla user group. It seems to work OK but I will do some more testing.
