Hello Gustaaf and thank you for posting.
This sounds like something your template sets, since Rapid Contact Ex does not directly affect the input height, at all.
You should be able to change it by adding the following in your template.css:

.rpx_field_10 input { height: 30px; }
where 10 is the Field ID of the File Upload field.
